Raised on American Roots music in Eastern Tennessee, Daniel Kimbro is a multi-GRAMMY-nominated musician with more than 20 years of experience performing, recording, and writing Roots music. As an accompanist, Daniel has shared stages and studios with notable artists including Eric Clapton, Jerry Douglas, John Hiatt, The Transatlantic Sessions, Sarah Jarosz, and many others.

While his recording credits are numerous, his new solo album Carpet in The Kitchen best epitomizes Daniel’s experience as a writer, composer, and arranger. This debut collection features lyrics set within musical scapes that evoke murder ballads and story-songs rooted in the folk traditions of Scotland, Ireland, England, and his native Appalachia. The opening track, “Loyston,” remembers the upheaval brought by the displacement of his fellow Appalachians with the construction of the TVA dams, focusing on the inundation of the eponymous town in Northeast Tennessee. Guest appearances on Carpet in The Kitchen include Jerry Douglas on slide guitars, Mike Baggetta (Nels Kline, David Wax Museum) on electric guitar, and Jordan Perlson (Gary Burton, Becca Stevens, Snarky Puppy) on drumset.

Known to listeners across the US, UK, and Canada for his work with the folk-blues trio Harley Kimbro Lewis, Daniel continues to tour these regions with Sarah Jarosz, The Jerry Douglas Band, The Earls of Leicester, and others. When time allows, Daniel can be found on bodies of water of any size with a fly rod in hand. He is a passionate advocate for the conservation of fisheries and watersheds near his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Derek Dames Ohl & Cody Tinnin

Derek Dames Ohl has performed all across this universe and beyond—playing venues and festivals alike. Some notable artists Derek has played alongside or opened for include Willis Alan Ramsey, Arlo McKinley, Bill Nershi, Joshua Ray Walker, Emily Nenni, Melissa Carper, Kassi Valazza, The Brudi Brothers, and many more.

IBMA-award-winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Cody Tinnin is a person in flux. After nearly ten years of relentlessly recording, performing, and touring with his progressive string trio Stillhouse Junkies—appearing at festivals such as MerleFest, Grey Fox Bluegrass, and RockyGrass—Tinnin’s new project focuses on original songs that reflect where he’s been while leaving space to show where he’s headed. Big, airy, open arrangements fuse cosmic country with heartfelt Americana, while retaining Tinnin’s instinctive knack for imagery and metaphor.
For Tinnin, the purpose of this material isn’t to create a vehicle through which he can get back on the road. Instead, it’s about maturation, of change, and the liminal spaces that change creates. It’s about feelings becoming flesh, grief becoming growth, and vulnerability becoming great strength—even if the path you’re on isn’t the path you might have chosen.

SURRENDER HILL

“Elements of Americana, Folk, Country, and Singer/Songwriter—sounding like a perfect cross between Bruce Springsteen, Rodney Crowell, and Dolly Parton, both vocally and musically speaking. It all sounds very fresh and memorable, with a nice variety due to the use of both male and female lead vocals as well as sharing them. Surrender Hill delivers high quality and should therefore not be ignored.” — Strutter Magazine

Surrender Hill, the husband-and-wife Americana duo of Robin Dean Salmon and Afton Seekins Salmon, weaves soulful country, roots rock, and heartfelt storytelling into a sound that bridges rural American traditions with a global perspective. Based in North Georgia, they’ve built a reputation for rich harmonies, evocative lyrics, and dynamic live performances, touring extensively across the U.S. and abroad. Robin, born in South Africa and raised on a Texas ranch, blends punk grit with country soul, while Afton, who grew up between Alaska and Arizona, channels her background in dance and songwriting into timeless, emotive vocals. Since meeting in 2013, they’ve released a string of acclaimed albums—Surrender Hill (2015), Right Here Right Now (2017), Tore Down Fences (2018), A Whole Lot of Freedom (2020), and the double album Just Another Honky Tonk in a Quiet Western Town (2022)—culminating in their latest release, River of Tears (2024), recorded at Blue Betty Studio in Ellijay, Georgia. With songs like the title track and “Unconditional Life,” inspired by Afton’s grandparents’ 70-year love story, Surrender Hill captures resilience, unity, and the beauty of surrender—not to defeat, but to love and creativity.

A musical journey through the birthplace of rock 'n' roll and the sound that shook the world.

Join three Tennessee artists through the historical archives of Memphis's own Sun Records - playing the classics.

Sun Records, founded in 1952 by Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the most influential labels in American music history. It became the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll by blending blues, country, gospel, and rhythm & blues into a groundbreaking new sound. Phillips championed raw, unpolished artists and believed that real emotion mattered more than perfection.

The label launched the careers of legends including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison. Its small, unassuming studio on Union Avenue became a cultural landmark, capturing some of the most important early recordings in rock, rockabilly, and country music. Sun Records remains a symbol of musical innovation, artistic freedom, and the beginning of a global cultural shift.

An Evening with Ben Torbett Band with Cliff Westfall

Originally from North Georgia, Ben Torbett’s new album, Bluer Side, captures his roots in classic country, rock, and honest songwriting, with rough-and-tumble lyricism that has earned the record high praise. His shows always sell out, featuring some of the best country from Chattanooga performed by all-star players.

Opening: Cliff Westfall, a Kentucky-born songwriter now based in the Catskills and NYC area, blends rock-tinged classic country with influences ranging from Dwight Yoakam and Rodney Crowell to Elvis Costello. His 2018 debut album, Baby You Win, earned airplay on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, rave reviews in over 30 publications worldwide, and spots on multiple year-end “Best Of” lists, while his song “More and More (I Love You Less and Less)” was a finalist in the Chris Austin Songwriting Competition at MerleFest. An 8th-generation Kentuckian raised in Owensboro, Westfall channels the mix of country, rock, and old-school R&B from his youth into his signature “electrified honky tonk” sound. Currently, he is working on a new record with acclaimed Nashville producer Jordan Lehning, continuing to craft witty, hook-filled songs that critics describe as some of the most cunning and melodic country in the contemporary era.
